Small stone, Tuesday 22nd January.

My jaw feels tight and I suddenly realise I haven't stopped grinning since the Obamas started their dance at the commander-in-chief inaugural ball. A few sweet kisses, sigh, singing along a little with Jennifer Hudson, some whispering oh how I wish I could read lips. Here we go, the news team has started talking about important things now. The colour of Michelle's gown, whether it's chiffon, who the designer is, how it enhances every feature she's known for, her cut arms, what? no mention of her bangs? must be yesterday's news. Gosh. I sure hope nothing pressing is happening in the world right now.

Grinning here as well!

It has been a great day 'here' in PAWSylvania -

Khyra hopes maybe some of her fur even made it to Wooshington DC!

They are a very photogenic couple, to be sure.

We thought briefly of going to the inauguration festivities but decided to go swimming instead! I think it was a good choice.

But I just don't understand why the news team isn't spending equal time discussing Barack's lovely suit, the svelte figure he cuts, and - oh - whether his hairstyle should change, 'cause, well, y'know, it's the same style he wore at the inaugural ball four years ago. :)

The paparazzi's chatter may be annoying, but the US First Family does bring a smile to my face too.

I was just happy that there was 'something' to watch at 3am this morning!

Interesting that you are watching the festivities from so far away and yet here in our house they passed unnoticed...Personally I would rather that the millions of dollars spent on that pageant were used towards domestic issue like hunger and homelessness...Am I just an old curmudgeon?

LOL! No kidding! I loved the moment when the President paused just inside the doorway (after the inauguration) to take in the moment. He said "I'll never see this again." It was a very poignant moment.

GIZMO, I saw the dance quite by accident on CNN, grabbed the iPad and started typing LOL. Don't even know if it was live. No, you're not being a curmudgeon. I feel the same way every NY when I see the fireworks pop. Or maybe we're BOTH curmudgeons! ;)

DAISY'S MOM, I saw that bit on the evening news! It WAS poignant.

We *tried* to go to watch the inauguration in person. We drove into DC, parked, and then rode our bikes to get around (wearing LAYERS of clothes as it was cold!) But security was super-tight, and to get access to the Mall and the parade route required going through security checkpoints. With nearly a million people in town for the event, the lines at the checkpoints had about a two hour wait! We didn't have the patience to stand in line that long.

And I don't know why, but I never did receive an invitation to the inaugural ball ;-)

Yeah, I want to join the curmudgeon corp. There are better uses of all that money every four years. I've never watched one.

Hahahaha, are the arms trending over the bangs now? (I think Obama is the first and only politician who has me believing he really does love his family.)

We watched the streaming video on the Internet, so we could hear the inaugural speech. Obama! My mom is relieved, really.

Ooo...thank you for your I-report, TARYN!

I know what you mean, ALTADENAHIKER. They often have sweet private moments, even in the most public of events...love it! :D

Oh, weren't they FABulous?! Oooo, Sue at the Portie bloggie puts up a pic of Bo Obama, too! swing on over if you haven't seen it already: http://theportuguesewaterblog.blogspot.com/
So majestic, if I can say...

We missed the inauguration. I think they make a nice couple and a handsome family.

As for how we can afford these things when our country is in debt and now borrowing even more...Even Alien can't figure it out! :O

Hugs,

Whenever I hear all the hubbub about FLOTUS's clothes, I can only imagine what it must be like in France where they really care about fashion.

Do you think Ms. Obama gets up every morning to read the drivel written about her and wonders why she worked so hard to go to law school and craft a career?

And what will everyone do when we finally have a female president with male arm candy?

Honored we could provide you with a charming small stone. I love this series.

I enjoyed so much to see the Inauguration ceremonies of President Barack Obama's second term. Just beautiful!
