19 days later.

Yes! We're alive! Thank you so much for your emails and comments asking how we are. Dear Livie and Petey, I hope your potato pancakes turned out well. Mary and Ben, no we're not in Brazil, unfortunately. Querida Sonia, do not worry! Tudo está bom aqui! I wish I had a good reason for not posting lately and something earth-shattering [or even vaguely interesting] to tell you but, the truth is, I've just been lazy.

*

I got this cartoon, week before last, from Ms Khalap and Anny. They apparently stole borrowed it from facebook.
Thank you ladies!
The resemblance is uncanny, don't you think?

*

Since I'm here, I might as well share a couple of shitty stories that happened last week while I wasn't blogging.

First, some background.

Georgia's stomach hasn't been good for a while. She's been to see Dr Dog, had a round of antibiotics, and has been eating small meals of pap and psyllium husk for over a month. Being silly devoted dog parents, Cushion and I exchange notes about the consistency of her poop every day, so I can adjust her meals accordingly.

Completely unrelated to this, I've been wanting to try a German bakery that's in a suburb next to ours. Last Monday, I asked Cushion if he would swing by the place on his way home from walking Georgia. I googled the address and text it to him along with what I wanted.

20 minutes later, I got this text back.

Now, I was sure the online menu had said "individual pies" and not "by the slice". So I replied...

...and promptly got this message back.

I'm sure you would have been just as confused as me, right?

*

If you remember, Cushion has sleep apnea. A CPAP machine helps keep his airways open at night. I have cute piccies of him in his new bought-from-Brisbane tropical jammies, wearing his strap and mask, but he would kill me if I posted them so you'll just have to imagine it. He looks like Darth Vader with a beige chin strap.

The machine sits on a low chair, between his bed and Georgia's on the floor. One night, we were all fast asleep when suddenly, I heard a frantic gurgling. I woke up just in time to see the man tearing off his mask, gasping and gagging. What do you think happened?
It seems Georgia had farted in her sleep and the CPAP machine had sucked in the fumes as it wafted from her bottom, and... well...I suppose you can guess the rest.
"Lies! All lies! I am a lady and I do not fart."

*

I hear google reader will be disappearing soon. [Insert *sigh*] Thanks to Mango's Momma, I've signed up to feedly. This morning, feedly informed me I have over 670 unread posts. Dear god. How is that even possible? Some of you bloggers are obviously way too industrious. It's highly unlikely I'll be able to plough through all of them, so if I've missed something especially delicious that's happened in your life, please feel free to leave me a link to the post[s] and/or a scold

Meanwhile, back to enjoying some autumn sunshine with my doggy, who has inexplicably started to prefer my company over Cushion's.
"That foot massage feels very nice, Typist."

"Will you be preparing my peanut butter bikkie any time soon?"

As I said, it's inexplicable.

Until the next time... :) X

P.S. Many of you have been asking after my brother. Thank you! He's still in hospital. He was put in an induced coma for over a week following the post-bypass complications but is now awake, out of ICU and doing all right. Unfortunately, there are now further complications in the throat area that make it impossible for him to eat or drink normally so he's being 100% intravenously fed. His recovery is now expected to take much, much longer than first anticipated. Sister 1 will be taking over from Sister 2 next week, and we're all just taking each day as it comes.

Lazy is good, don’t apologise for ‘lazy’.
Sounds like you got plenty on your plate anyway; here’s hoping some of it is pie.

Good luck with all the problems.

Love the cartoon part.
Am mystified by the texting exchange.

No greater love hath any man than to pipe his dog's farts directly into his body.

Sorry about your brother.
I'm lazy too, so rest assured I'm not one of the ones you need to catch up on.

So sorry your brother is having such a hard time recovering. Sending him lots of healing vibes!

Maybe it is the darn auto correct on the phone. Hubby goes into hysterics when he reads them online (there is a web site that posts the best of them) I hope you brother gets better soon...having been down that path of complications..I know it is no fun at all.

Ohhhhh. Thanks for the explanation over at AG. How could I so soon have forgotten the joy of a beautiful poop?

I almost spit out my coffee reading the fart story! I think that Mr. Cushion needs to place his CPAP machine on a high perch to avoid GLP's nocturnal emissions.

Hoping that your brother gets out of hospital soon.

XOXO

Well I'm glad your back. Hit delete on the feedly and start all over again. Oh, and send me over a rhubarb pie too. Yumm.

That was funny re the phone. Hope your brother will be OK soon. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

It's good to have you back! Just skip my blog...nothing new and exciting. I too have switched to Feedly. It's okay, but I'm so sad that Google Reader is going away. I'm sorry that your brother's recovery hasn't been smooth. I was hopeful that this wasn't going to be the case. Life is good today now that The Typist is back! The story of Georgia's "gas" had me falling off my chair. Poor Cushion!

Querida Georgia, I am so sorry to hear that your brother is having problems in his recovering. Sending him lots of positive healing vibes!

Many laughs seeing the cartoon. I just sent it to my daughter, because her dog Brahma did the same all the time. Love the photo of dear Georgia on Cushion lap. And the fart story make me LOL too!
I hope dear Georgia is well and don't have more stomach's problem.
LOVE the new banner! Georgia looks adorable as always. Beijos para ela!

Last but not least, I am so glad you post! Hope you have a very pleasant week ahead.

PS: About the monstera's fruit, be careful, because I read that some of them are not edible...

georgia little pea said...

Indeed JUNE ;) I wonder if I should add an explanation to the text.

REILLY/DENNY, auto correct drives me insane. I did a post WITH it a while back. It still gives me the giggles to re-read it!

Well, here's the funny thing ROXY. Despite my clear street directions, the man went to the wrong bakery and I never got my rhubarb pie.

LORI, perhaps killing off GR is just a marketing ploy, like doing away with classic coke decades ago. Remember?

SONIA, I will not to eat the monstera fruit though it sounded very delicious in your post! I'm afraid Georgia's stomach will always be a problem because she eats too much rubbish from the streets and parks. Impossible to stop her.

Wow! First of all, your poor brother, and family. Very stressful for all of you, I'm sure.
Love the cartoon (that is definitely Georgia!), love the texting exchange (my mind would have also been focused on the bakery yummies, not on poop!), love the C-PAP story (note to self: move dog bed further away from C-PAP).
This is the first I've read of Google Reader disappearing. Yikes! I do not do change well. I shall bookmark your blog and keep up that way!

Hahaha! I needed a good laugh this morning. Poor Cushion...

I switched to feedly also, and had the same problem when I got back for my mini-vacation (?) with the little Popstar. Slow down, everyone!!

I sure hope your brother continues to improve. It's been a long, hard journey for him (and you and your sis's)

I have a friend who just went on a CPAC machine and he has a dog who sleeps nearby. Am I evil if I don't tell him this story?

Thoughts and prayers for your brother.

Nice to hear an update from you guys again, and hope Georgia's belly is doing better soon.

My dad had a quadruple bypass about 6 years ago, and he also had complications in his throat from incorrect insertion of tube thingies during his surgery. He could only consume thick liquids or ice cubes for a few weeks and it made him very grumpy....I have fond memories of him spitting at me the ice cubes I gave him to suck on. In any case, my dad is doing great now and I'm sure your bro will quickly be on the mend too.

WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was worried about you! Petey only worries he won't get petted, won't go along w/the people in the car, won't get a cookie.
WHEW!
Your texts should be submitted to Damn You Autocorrect :)
Always good for many laughs!
WHEW! So happy all is well with you and sending good vibes to Mr. Brother.
And GLP bears an uncanny resemblance to the dog in the cartoon. Maybe she modeled for it while you were away

Love the cartoon. Big lap dogs make me laugh.

Speaking of laughing - I almost lost my composure reading about the CPAP....omg. That is the funniest thing I've heard in days. Poor Cushion.

You can skip my blog - not a darn thing has happened there.

GizmoGeodog said...

Sounds like it's been busy times but good to see you today...The pie texts are a mystery to me too and the story about Georgia's farts...well, I had to pick myself up off the floor after that one...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...maybe she was missing you when you were away?

Sorry about the tummy trouble and all the complications for your brother...you've got much to concern you and you being MIA is understandable

We know what really got you posting again -- Georgia threatened to find a new publicist.

And yes, the resemblance is uncanny.

georgia little pea said...

JEAN, you think I should let the CPAP manufacturer know so they can put a warning on the box? Feedly is easy! All it asked for was my google email address (gmail). Anything more complicated would have been tough for me too.

Yes JAN, you would be evil.

Ahhh LIVIE, you didn't mention if your V barre instructor enjoyed your potato pancakes? :D

KIRSTEN, you just made me feel so much more hopeful. Thank you! :) My brother was grumpy even before the complications. Can you imagine what he's like now? Thank goodness Sister 2 (who's Buddhist) is there to teach him mediation, acceptance and patience. She's absolutely the right person to be there at this time.

Barb said...

Well, of course, I'm wondering if you ever got a pie and what kind??? Georgia looks especially melancholy in her photos - don't you know that her feelings are probably hurt. Ladies (such as Georgia and I) never fart. Occasionally when absolutely necessary we might pass a wee bit of gas. So sorry to hear of your brother's continuing struggles.

verobirdie said...

I hope your brother is better soon.
Hopefully, he does not havevto pay for the extra stay?
I saw the cartoon a couple of weeks ago, and knew it was Georgia.
Btw, I.ve got eggs. No waistline left...

Haha- pies, poops, farts, and prayers for your bros continuing recuperation.
The pics of Ms Pea really are too cute and wow maybe the girl-girl bonding is underway hey?
I am so so lazy at the moment or lack inspiration, gosh I'll have to post soon......
Now that's a real bummer over Google Reader being abolished. I haven't done anything about it, they say its going on the 1st July?? Anyhow I"m going to follow up this "feedly" thing. Thanks for the tip.
xx

Imagine my horror when I was exposed to the quality of your post-lazy blogging offering compared to my post-lazy-almost-as-lazy-as-no-post-at-all posting of a photograph without words. Pah! I am very glad that I wasn't drinking my coffee when I read it because said coffee would've ended up splattered over my computer screen. Poor Cushion. What a horrible way to wake up! Snigger. As for Georgia's tummy... I hope you find a solution for her 'issues' soon. It can't be fun for anyone. Flo's cast iron stomach let us down in a very liquid style recently although it only took a week to clear up. I don't know what caused it and I don't know what cleared it up, but I do know that I was clearing things up in the bedroom in the middle of the night and not loving it. I am sure that I can't offer an suggestions that you haven't already tried so won't annoy you with words of wisdom.

I am very pleased to hear that The Frugal One is trekking in the right direction. I had checked in to the comments on your last post in case for an update. I hope he continues along that path and hope that his recovery goes better than it has.

I am off with my tail between my legs to try and think of a more inspiring future post! My brain just isn't functioning as well as it did a year ago!

BOL!!! Oh, I just don' know where to begin!! Furst, that cartoon is just TOOOOO funny!! I try that with Ma at least once a day!! hehehe
I really do sympathize with the poop talk. Ma's other doggie had chronic colitis, and every poop was a discussion...she said she can TOTALLY relate! Shit pie!! hehe
Okays the CPAP machine story was HILARIOUS!!! Of course you don't farts Georgia...it was ME!!! BOL
I still have my paws crossed for your brother. I'm so glads the whole family is takin' shifts.
Kisses,
Ruby

BARB, Hope you're doing well and posting again soon! Miss you. I didn't get a pie. The man went to the wrong bakery.

No VERO, he won't have to pay. It's public health.

I hate losing GR, ROSE. Just google feedly, sign in with your gmail, and say yes when they ask to access your GR info.

H, believe me, my brain isn't in the blog much these days either. It was tough sitting at the computer for an hour (or was it 5?). Flo did a runner *mmm* in the bedroom? That would have smelt as yummy as the CPAP. Ugh.

I was starting to get very nervous, but I restrained myself from writing nervous comments or sending nervous emails. Now I'm relieved and a little bit disgusted by the thought of poopy pies and the description of GLP's gas mask!

Very glad to know that laziness has ruled the roost as of late. Very sorry to hear that your brother's recovery has been so rocky. Don't want to make light of it in any way but you know ... you're now pretty much guaranteed that when he does come home he will not know that it was you that faded his cushion in the wash!

Hubby and I are both laughing really hard over the CPAP story! That is a classic, but it really would have been better with a picture of Cushion in his jammies.

I'm using Feedly, too, and I really like it. It's letting me organize the blogs I follow a lot better, so when I have to use the dreaded mark all as read I can pick and choose much easier! :P

Hello, I forgot to say, it's me - the one-who-misses-hardly-anything.
Are you mad with Cush? you didn't crop his belly out of the header photo!
Bwahahahaha

I'm going, I'm going, but is Google Reader the same as one's Readers List in your blog settings????
I went to Feedly and did all it asked but none of my blogs I follow which are in my Readers List have transferred into Feedly?!
Hah you shouldn't have mentioned it now youre going to be flooded with people asking about it........ :)

georgia little pea said...

That is most certainly a silver lining, CHANDRA!

Bloody hell ROSE. Did you have to start on the belly? I cropped it as much as I could!

Yes, the reading list from GR. not sure why yours didn't transfer. Here's a link they just emailed me to get the most out of feedly: http://blog.feedly.com/2013/03/14/tips-for-google-reader-users-migrating-to-feedly/

Ms. Georgia,

I don't even know what feedly is... is sounds odd.

I'm so sorry your brother had those complications. We've been wondering if he was okay or not... ugh. You're going to need Sister 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... are there that many? When does it rotate back to the Typist?

And I CAN picture Cushion. Ha. I think it is very exciting that you are cuddling the Typist more these days. Wag.

So many questions. You don't have to answer them. We're traveling again and who knows how much access we will have.

Must go get in the luggage again and burrow.

Love,
Tootsie

OMG that story with Cushion had be almost falling out of my chair. That is hysterical. I do hope he recovered quickly.

Glad you're all ok & your brother is on the mend. OMD, Georgia sounds like she could be related to Maggie, they have similar digestive issues. Maybe we could rent them out as cute biological weapons?
Love the cartoon, it looks oddly familiar. I think they've been reading your blog. :)

TOOTS, I only have 2 sisters, praise the cosmos :)

PUDDS, I would like to hear about your mum's. When you get tired of the hellbow, please do tell.

PUNK, that's a great idea. We could use the income for vet bills and expensive dietary supplements!

ROTFLMAO! Ohmiwoof! My hubby wears a sleep apnea mask and you've just given me a horribly horribly WONDERFUL idea for the next time he gets on my nerves (Oh Kolchak…do you want some baked beans???).

PS - I adore that picture of Georgia on your lap. She's totally a lap dog.
