The long, long and, dare I say it? boring Easter weekend.

Friday. The weekend started off badly for My Cushion. The Typist insisted he throw away his favourite old walking shoes with the holes on the bottom.

My Cushion was very sad and insisted back that she show some respect, take a picture, say a proper goodbye and tell everyone about it.
"Goodbye shoes. Thank you for all the walks and for taking me everywhere."

Once the shoes were properly buried in the rubbish bin, and My Cushion had stopped whining, I helped him get started on his many Easter holiday chores.

We had to make a new water feature because the old one died. [It wasn't me that killed it, just old age.]

My Typist is really looking forward to having something like this.

This pic from here.

Seeing as how he has no proper tools for making a water feature, and just a few pieces of rotting, split and wrongly sized bamboo that My Typist scrounged from a neighbour's pruning, My Cushion thinks it might be possible to make something like this.

This pic from here.
My Cushion tried his best! I know he did because I kept a close eye on him.

"What is that?'
"Can I see?"
"HEY! That was a bit too close!"

"Sorry."
"I was just trying to help."

"Somehow, this isn't quite what I thought a holiday would be like."

It was hard work. After a while, everyone got tired and we all went in and watched telly instead.

Saturday. My humans went shopping. On the way out, they realised they don't go out much any more.
"Goodness! Are those cobwebs on the car?"
At the shops. My Cushion discovered he needs to go on a diet. A.S.A.P.  immediately! as of yesterday! is fat.

My Typist bought some new bedsheets that didn't fit the bed and had to be returned [and there isn't another one that's the right size in the whole of Stryliah, she knows because she checked.]

Serves them right for leaving me home alone all day, for at least 5 hours, on a holiday.

Sunday.
It was so quiet, you'd think someone had died.
"Hey Cushion, how about, one year, we splurge and go away for Easter like normal people?"

My humans tried to make up for abandoning me on Saturday and not taking me for holidays like my friends by giving me this!
"What IS it? It doesn't look like a gooey Easter egg to me."

It was a roo tail!
I'd never had one before! I don't even know what a roo is! It took My Cushion 2 weeks of hunting to find it! It was delicious!
The roo tail was so big, I couldn't finish it for brekkie, and had 1/2 of it for lunch. After that, I farted all arvo and got locked out of the bedroom and had to sleep downstairs all night.

I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get to eat another roo tail again.

Monday. I found out I wasn't the only survivor of the long, long and boring Easter weekend.
"OMG! Echo! Ranger! You're alive! Were YOUR humans too stingy to take you on a holiday too?"

"If you ask me, that Georgia Little Pea is a fruitcake."

Tuesday.
And that was that. At last! Thank goodness! When I woke up this morning, the holiday was over.

Gosh...that doesn't sound like a boring weekend to me! Roo tail, walks, chasing friends, decluttering, engineering. After reading your post, I feel like my weekend was boring!

Please ask your cushion to work on the water feature because we don't want to wait for 6 months. With all the help you give him it should not take that long to come up with something sensational.

I don't know what a roo tail is but I sure do want one!! I love passing gas and making my parents run for hills!! BOL!!!!

I thought I would share that my parents were to cheap to take me on a vacay for the holiday as well! Geeze!!

That sounds like a pretty good weekend to me, GLP. Roo tail alone might make it worth it, I think.

And pardon me while I die laughing about your car having cobwebs. Or wait, is that envy I'm feeling? Yes, yes, I think that just might be it.

Add me to the list of folks who want to see that water feature when it's done. I can see you were trying to be such a big help in it's assembly. :)

Thank you for pushing The Cushion! With your gentle encouragement, I'm sure it'll get done in no time at all and the mozzies can stop breeding in our now stagnant water pot.

Higgins - a roo tail is a kangaroo tail which, for some strange reason, was not easy to find in this Land Of The Roo. This is the first time any of our dogs have had one. It was lean and surprisingly meaty. We've been trialling different types of bones and this will probably be added to the list as a monthly treat, being more expensive (double the cost of a turkey leg) and, more importantly, fart-inducing ;)

I'm sorry the holiday wasn't all you dreamed of and more! I had a pretty relaxing time with my humans. It wasn't the most exciting, but it was fun!

Roo tail sounds exotic and tasty to me!

GLP, it sounds like you had a good weekend. You got a roo tail for Easter; the only thing the Easter Bunny left us was a dead rat in the carport. An' Mama wouldn't even let us SNIFF it! She claims it wasn't a gift from the Easter Bunny but left by a semi-feral kitty we scared away when we went out for a pee. Mr. Rat was at least as big as your roo tail too. Humans can be such spoil sports.
Yer friends, Sadie, Eddie and Petey.

I hope you communicate some specific plans for a desired weekend for next time---I'd love to see what you dream up. Wouldn't that be fun? I can't wait to see the water feature, I can see you were a big help with that.

Hello and Happy Easter from NYC!

My person left me alone on Friday night and on Sat. night also. She smelled very interesting when she came back on Sat! I know she was with my friend Splash. I am not allowed to visit Splash anymore because I hump her all the time and her person doesn't like that. Splash doesn't mind.
But I had a jolly weekend here. We went to the Park and for big walks and I got very tired.

You had the most unboring of boring weekends, GLP! I think a water feature made out of bamboo sounds like a good idea...just be careful about chewing up the materials. It might be like that roo tail. (had to laugh at that one!)

I can't believe they left you home alone on Saturday!

Thank you for your healing thoughts. Please continue to keep your paws crossed because I'm getting my test results tomorrow!

Sadie, Eddie and Petey - it sucks when they get all worked up about us eating road kill and other dead things. It's all protein after all, what do they think they're getting us from the supermarket? You can't understand humans.

Peggy - hmmm, that's a very good idea. I shall start working on my list ASAP.

Petey - We hump all the time (as you might have noticed since you read this blog). Mostly the humans just laugh. Maybe we're a bit more laid back about stuff like that here. Besides, if Splash didn't like it, she'd tell you. Loudly. For sure ;)

Ah Ms Pea, I do enjoy your posts, the "Team" said to tell you..... "a whole leg is even better and insist the paw stays on - its a real del-i-cacy. We spit the claws out though (gag.) Of course the tail is delic too but 'cos we have a choice, the leg's our fav 'cos it can last for a week of munching and get that nice aroma going. Tremendous fart-fodder too" Cheerio

I *wish* that my Easter weekend was "boring"! All I did was run from one family house to another.
YIKES on the spider webs!!!!!

georgia little pea said...

dear Team - thanks for the Hot Tip! you guys hunt your own, don't you?! and thanks for reminding My Typist about the fart-fodder and aroma. she's already gagging. maybe My Cushion will try to find me a leg soon. he's my only hope :)x

I'd like to start my comment with the (pungent) end of your post, GLP, but I just can't. It's morning here, I've only had one cup of coffee and the photos of the "r" "t" are a bit overwhelming. (And then the comment from a reader about working on the feet and the claws ... ohhhh.) You know I'm a wimp about that sort of meat business. But, really, if I were you that treat would have made the holiday weekend.

After some prodding from my mom, my dad came up with a neat water feature for indoors. It's a metal watering can with a small motor inside that recirculates through a clear plastic pipe that stands in the middle of the can. On top of the pipe site a spigot so it looks like it's floating on the water stream. I've always wanted an outdoor water feature, though, it's on my list. One of many lists!

Chandra - sorry Ms Vegan! Raw meat shots can be ugh, even for carnivores like me.

I tried to imagine the water feature your dad made. It sounds like a nifty bit of recycling. Any pics you can email me? We have 3 water pots in our yard. One has an old mossy ceramic turtle. One will have the bamboo! And I'd love ideas for the third!
