Some things I'm frightfully grateful for.

#1  Being able to shower and wash my hair again!

Photograph: Allstar/Cinetext/

Took off the compression bandage yesterday. The knee's looking good and nowhere near as swollen as the 1st arthroscopy [below]. I hope this means it's going to heal faster too.

A very close #2  My Cushion who, despite coming down with the flu yesterday, is taking care of the house, Georgia and me all by his snotty self. Where would we be without you, lovey?

[P.S. Please don't buy me any more palmiers, muffins and sugar lips no matter how hard I beg.]

[At least, not till next week.]

#3  Shanghai Mahjong. 99 cents for 200 layouts. Even more addictive than Panadeine Forte.
My top score so far, 541,000+. A fluke I'm sure. And I still have more than 100 layouts to go. Wheee!

#4  My Kindle. Finally reading the 1st book in the Game of Thrones series. Not quite as much fun after watching Series 1 and 2 on telly. Boy, is that Catelyn Stark horrible.
"Don't worry, Jon. I'll bite her if she dares to be mean to you again."

And last but not least.  My dog, who brought me home a gift from the park.
"Do you like it, Typist? I stole it from a kiddie, specially for you."

And who's been faithfully keeping me company through the long lonely hours.
[Though I suspect she might just be making herself comfortable on my bed].

+

I've started some simple rehab exercises! At this point, I'd like to thank my mestre for making us do 100 push ups and 800 sit ups in every class because, seriously guys, even with a bum knee,  this is not hard.
What's next?

Housework, I suspect. The dust balls under the bed are calling.

You don't have to listen to the dustballs under the bed.

Glad you're recovery seems to be going to plan. :)

I hope you keep on the mend and that things keep looking up for you! I know I love my e-reader, too. I don't know what I'd do without it! Just remember to follow the doctor's orders and don't overdo it. Those dustbunnies won't go anywhere. Trust me, I've tried waiting them out!

Have you tried ear plugs against dust ball calling?
Glad to see you're doing well.
Bejeweled is more addictive than Mahjong...

do u have an extra muffin? i wouldn't mind one actually.. :)

My aunt who had a kneecap replacement recently... had her knee all bloated like double for many weeks. She's still walking funny today because she didn't do her therapy much. She rather be cooking and taking care of her grandkids.

i kinda love GLP's jammies... its beeyootiful! She's such a sweetheart to bring u a gift :)

Too late! I vacuumed and feel so much better now that I can breathe again :)

Anny - I stuffed up the rehab on my first op and had to go back to step 1 to learn to walk properly again. If your aunt's walking funny, it could lead to other aches and problems :( Yes I still have half a sugar lip and a palmier in the oven and that's my fave jammie!

Vero - Will google Bejewelled!

The shower was my Mom's biggest complaint, too. She couldn't shower until she got her stitches out, which was over two weeks! She was NOT a happy camper.

Cool ball, BTW.

Wow Typist, you're UP! You go girl! Mmmm, you smell nice (now). hehehe
Oh no!! Poor Cushion with the flu, that wasn't very sporting of him after all he is your main carer right? Who will walk Ms Pea???
Your knee looks REALLY good!
Don't be too jealous Typist but as I sit here at the end of the dining table doing this comment, I am being made an authentic Mexican dinner and homemade cheesecake and choc mud cake with fresh cream and ice-cream for my official little family farewell dinner. Oh dear and I didn't do the ramp today as I was swanning it at a girlfriends house overnight. Oh well tomorrow hey?
Take care Typist, tell poor old Cushion to take his medicine so he can walk Ms Pea.
xxxx ;)

Oh my goodness...your poor knee. I'm glad you said it is doing good. I must get Game of Thrones on DVD and catch-up. The book looks daunting. I breezed past your comment about computer games. I don't allow myself to play (anything) because they are highly addictive to me. My daughter wanted to show me Angry Birds and I warded her off with garlic, holy water and a crucifix. If I ever quit posting to my blog, you'll know the reason.

Oh, showers, washing hair, all so gorgeous after being unwell, so good for the soul. I'd ignore those dust balls, they're very ignorable in this house ;) and I love that present that your gorgeous little (not so little) doggie brought you, and it's especially sweet that she stole it from a child for you, how very special that stolen item now is :)

Take care with the rehab, cuddles from my girls here to you xx

Rose - oh, don't they love you to bits! What a feast. I'm jealous of anyone who can eat cake and not worry. I'm looking forward to a little slice of sugar lips with coffee myself, tonight. Smack.

Lori - the book? That would be FIVE books! The show is even more addictive than Shanghai.

Susie-Belle - somewhere in my neighbourhood, a kid is bawling no doubt :P

Don't worry about those dust balls. We can't see them at all! Our dad is having a similar operation in about two weeks so we won't let him see the photos!! Hope you are up and about soon. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Buster and I are hoping you are feeling better?
What a bummer to be out of commission for a while.
Sending all good thoughts your way
and I bet the rest of your family (human and canine) want you back to good soonest!

June said...

Oh yes. The Shower. Isn't it heavenly to smell good again?
Georgia is a Good Girl to steal pretty things from spoiled little children to give to her broken Typist. And such a pretty piece of loot. (To boot.)

georgia little pea said...

I love that none of you worry about dust balls. Well, they're gone! I vacuumed them away and have done a laundry load as well! There's only so much lying down a girl can take.

Rory and Stella - All the best to your dad. Tell him not to worry. It's a breeze, especially if there's someone to coddle him after :)

Jean said...

You may have vacuumed away the dustballs, but of course they will have already laid their eggs so there will be more there tomorrow - ignore them! Go for the sugar lips!

Annd, GLP, that was a beootiful present you brought your Typist, and I like your jammies too!

Jan said...

As long as you keep your great attitude and have the support of the Cushion and a dog who seems to have a nursing degree you are on your way to recovery.

But did you even TRY to make friends with the dust balls?

Ellen said...

So sorry about the knee but hoping that surgery #2 is the last and that the healing is speedy. I tell you, I miss too much when I am away from blogland and of late it is going on too much. Too much has happened while I've been away!

Game of Thrones...I haven't watched the series but I'm in the middle of the second book and love it!

georgia little pea said...

You can make friends with dust balls? THEY LAY EGGS? Holy potatoes.

Ellen - I think that's the way to do it! The series is very close to the book. So far, I'm only wondering about the CASTING of Joffrey. I can't wait for him to be decapitated. Head on a spike please! ASAP!

Georgia, the typist couldn't do it without you.

Coming here after a while - So sorry to read about your injury, and glad you're better now! If you lived in Mumbai you wouldn't worry about a few dustballs. We live in a giant dustball here :-) :-)

What a pretty gift from Georgia! Much nicer than the dead mice and lizards Kimaya used to bring home once upon a time.

"I stole it from a kiddie just for you" Love that!
Aw, what a lovely comment you left me, thank you :) things seem to be quieting down neighbour-wise, so hopefully we can stay put. 9 times in 25 years you say? Mon Dieu!!! and you are certainly allowed to feel sorry for yourself, that looks like a painful proceedure!! hope it heals well for you xxx

booahboo said...

You know.. Jan is right. I make friends with dust balls.. all the time... *LOL*

But when my eldest sis comes back... she throws all my dustball friends awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..

go ez on the legs will ya.. the dustballs and other stuffs can wait a bit. You sure don't wanna be walking funny.. cos when you get to old age... the aches and pains will all keep you awake at night.

did i spook you enough to rest yet?

I am so out of the loop, I didn't know you had surgery scheduled. Hope you're up and about sooner than soon.

Were your ears burning yesterday? I mentioned "my follower in Australia" yesterday with some pride. Hope the pain doesn't keep you from blogging!

Pamela said...

O...M...D! 100 push ups and 800 sit ups every class? Woman, you are a goddess!

Rehab should be a piece of (cream) cake for you. Are you going to rip the stitches out with your teeth? Did you vacuum the dust bunnies while standing on your head? In your spare time, do you wrestle crocodiles?

Given this new information, I can't help but think little dogs on long leashes better watch out! Once that knee heals, I can see you using them for soccer practice. :)

georgia little pea said...

THANKS EVERYONE for giving me a good laugh! I'm glad I don't have any stitches in my belly.

Raj - I don't get dead mice and lizards because Georgia would eat any that she finds ;)

LifeStudent - now that you mention it, yes they were burning a bit. However, it could just have been my daily hot flash.

Pamela, Pamela, Pamela. Where do I even begin? I could potentially rip the stitches out with my teeth because I am rather flexible that way. I think I might have mentioned before that I still sadly cannot stand on my head. Wrestling crocodiles is so Steve Irwin and yesterday. And well behaved little dogs need never fear my lethal callused feet (though badly behaved dog owners should).

That's it for now! HUGS to all on this sunny Monday :) X

Well there you are, on the up and up. And glp is a sweetie, you can see her adoring you with her eyes.

I loved your uncorrected post, what were you on? Did you accidentally take some of the brown stuff?

georgia little pea said...

No Friko! I was on the iPad and if I don't go back and checwe my sentences, sometimes it turns out ikethis, see? It's behaving itself again, just to slow off to you. Beast.

Rose ~ from Oz said...

Sounds like you're still doing well Typist, take a bit of care though won't you? Don't get ahead of yourself just cos you're an athletic Goddess.

Ouch ouch ouch!!! I'm so out of the loop. I'm going to have to backtrack to see how you did this to your knee! Ouchie!

On an completely random sidenote, I love Mahjong Solitare. I have a game for my Nintendo DS (yes I still play it all the time lol) that has the game on it. I play it most nights to fall asleep. XD

I hope you're feeling better soon!!!

So glad you're feeling better and the surgery went well. (I loved your post on the iPad btw - that auto correcter drives me crazy!) Hoping for a speedy recovery, but I'm with Houndstooth, I'd let the dust bunnies take care of themselves.

booahboo said...

Hey Missy... are you bored with Shanghai Mahjong already?

Leslie said...

Oh noes! That looks incredibly painful. :( Glad to hear your recovery is going as expected and hope you're feeling better in no time.

I love that GLP is keeping you company and even more that the Cushion is taking good care of you. (We hope he feels better soon, too!)

While rehab will not be a lot of fun, I hope you stick with it. My experience (and I have a lot of it ;) is the more you put in to slow and steady rehab, the more successful your recovery will be long-term. Good luck!

georgia little pea said...

I'm ready for round 2 with the dust balls today!

Yes Anny, I am a little over Shanghai Mahjong, and reading and sitting around watching telly and sleeping. Sigh.

Leslie - you're absolutely right but I'm already probably on my feet more than I should be. I rushed it after my first op 2 years ago and did my rehab wrong too! I had to go back to square one after 2 months. I should learn from that eh.

Bigdogzola said...

Bad luck about the knee..felt very guilty for giggling whilst reading your post..sorry!

ann @ studiohyde said...

Ouch! the leg looks like it has been painful - hope it is healing well.

chandra said...

Your knee looks super good!

I was going to chat about all kinds of other part of your post but I have to know: Are you serious when you say your capoeira instructor making you do 100 push ups in every class??!! That blows my mind.

-c at ddy.

georgia little pea said...

Yes! Its true.

We usually do 1 set (but sometimes 2) of 20 each, 3 variants... hands at shoulder width, wide apart and with fingers together. We also do capoeira push ups which is hard to explain but feels like death. So 100 is an estimate!

As for sit ups, we do around 100 per type including side ones. (I also include the back work outs in sit ups.)

He's a nutter. I say this freely because he would never read this blog ;)

Bed rest....so over-rated. Actually, glad you are getting along with all the wonderful help from GLP and the Cushion. what would you do without them?

Unknown said...

Oh no! A lot seems to have happened while I was away. In retrospect, I realize you were such a sweetheart to inquire about my neck and back while you were bedridden due to a knee-surgery. Hope you're much better now.

GLP seems delightedly stretched on your bed!

georgia little pea said...

Hey Swati! So good to see you back. Are you better? I hope so since I have good knowledge (via The Cushion) that bad necks and backs are not to be pshawed at. Hugs X
