So I got lost on Saturday while out walking in Callan Park with My Cushion.
When we got back, he couldn't wait to tell The Typist blame me for what happened.
"It was near the community garden. She ran ahead down the slope and went out of sight. I thought if I kept walking, I'd catch up with her. When I got there, she was gone."
"I did not lose you, Georgia! You went off to look for food, you naughty greedy girl!"
"Well, that's a good story, Cushion. But just to set the record straight, here's what really happened."

"You abandoned me!"
"That's right. You didn't watch out for me like you're supposed to!"
"Just admit it!"
"You were slack and it was YOUR fault I got lost!"
"Okay. That's all I have to say."

Oooooooooooooooh! What a scary thing! I'm sure the Cushion didn't mean to abandon you Georgia! How lucky it was that your friends were there to run to! I'm so glad you're back home and safe!
ReplyDeleteGeorgia, of course I believe you. We know humans are the ones responsible for keeping dogs safe. But to be fair, your Cushion didn't mean to abandon you. He's just human and, let's face it, humans just aren't as smart as dogs. I'm sure he's very sorry and will keep a closer eye on you now. And I think you deserve some extra yummy treats after that harrowing ordeal.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank goodness for friends! I "lost" Jersey at a craft fair once. Apparently the smells coming from the food trucks was just way to irresistible and she couldn't find her way back to me. Luckily, a person that worked at the craft fair knew that she belonged to me & brought her back. Jersey was *very* happy to see me & never did that again.

I think everyone learned an important lesson. You, Miss Georgia, must remember that The Cushion can't keep up with an athletic, youthful pig-dog. You must slow down and give him a chance to be responsible. Also, you must think of your readership. We would be devastated if anything happened to you. Of course, we believe your story, Georgia. The Cushion had to come up with something. He did have The Typist waiting for him.

What a frightening experience for a helpless little dog. We are sure that your cushion learned responsibility.Sometimes humans have to learn stuff the hard way.
ReplyDeleteI love how cheerful Georgia looks in her photos. Clearly despite a potentially harrowing situation and her Cushion's distress, she was none the worse for wear post-abandonment. I am so glad she was found so quickly!

ReplyDeleteThat was a scary story. Used to go to an off leash park when I was young. Then one day I ran into the woods and momma could not keep up and then I was lost! When Momma found me she was crying. Well, I've never been to an off leash park again.

Oh Georgia, of course I beleive you. I just know from personal experience, that "the Human" is easily distracted and often don't keep an eye on us as closely as they should.
