A small stone for Jean, Friday 11th January.
We were almost at the corner with Sussex Street, when the bus came to a halt next to Darling Harbour. The lady in the floral dress next to me suddenly stood up. Tourist I thought, smirking in my head. Gawking at our beautiful harbour shining in the late afternoon summer sun. I pretended not to see her of course and continued to gaze at nothing ahead. Then, as the seconds passed, and the bus didn't move, and she didn't sit back down, I couldn't help myself. I looked up at her face, and as if waiting for this moment, she said to me with the smile of a child, "I'm looking at the duck."

And here's the rubber ducky song!
Enjoy! X
Hahahaha! That's the one that was on our news up here in Canada the other night! Too funny. I wish they'd put one of those in our little bay - I would smile every time I saw it.
ReplyDeleteRubber ducky, you're the one....you make bathtime lots of fun....Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.....
I had quite a start when I turned round and saw its head. It was BIG, as you can see in the second shot.
ReplyDeleteRubber ducky you're the one... :D when do i get a pebble?
ReplyDeleteWhen you've been good, MS OON :)
ReplyDeleteMy Grandkids have an exact miniature replica of that duck! They float it down our stream in the summer. I like the part about the floral dress - in my town it would be a fur coat. Sure to be a tourist! Darn -now I'll be humming that Ducky song in my sleep!
ReplyDeleteJean cracks me up :)) and, I love your little stones typist!
ReplyDeleteSo now I have to go and look up "The Duck" to find out why he is in your bay. I am really likeing this small stone challenge.

This is like living in a magical land.
ReplyDeleteFantastic small stones writing, Typist! There is a great Harper's magazine rubber ducky article that the Typist might enjoy. (Well, it's rather long, but it is all about rubber duckies.)
ReplyDeleteWag on, and thanks for your sweet note on our pet blogger challenge post (or did I wag for you -- thank you -- already?).

ReplyDeleteThe Halifax Harbour needs a giant rubber duck, I think. I am going to suggest it to municipal council right now.
I'm wondering if my dogs would chase it or be freaked out.
