This morning, I found a post on my facebook wall about a dog named Nacho.
He's 10, diabetic, requires medication and a special diet, has a shaved left leg from a recent operation and has been missing since 27th January.
His home is in Sydenham, Sydney which may be a long, long way away from where you're reading this. But I do believe in 6 degrees of separation and who knows who you may know, even if you're across the big pond.
The owners, Nathalie and Shaun, have created a facebook page so that they can keep friends and helpful strangers updated on Nacho sightings and what's being done to find him.
Nacho was last seen on Saturday morning, 3 long days ago, at the corner of Victoria Road and Sydenham Road.
I've read the ordeal of their last 11 days and am amazed at how much is being done to find him. This couple aren't just sticking a few posters on some lamp posts. Nacho is obviously very much loved and sorely missed. His medical condition makes it imperative that he be found quickly.
If you're reading this, please consider sharing their facebook page or otherwise contacting anyone you might know who lives, works, walks or drives through this area. It might take a few minutes, but it'll mean the world to at least 2 people and 1 dog.
Importantly, add Nathalie and Shaun's numbers to your mobile phone contacts right now! so you can call them the instant you spot Nacho.
I think you must agree, it's high time for this old boy to go home.

Hopefully, we're much too far away to spot Nacho, or else she managed to get her paws on a plane ticket. We did share it on Twitter, though, and we hope that soon Nacho is at home!

OMD, I sure hope Nacho finds his way home. What a scary time for his humans. I can't imagine what they are going through...it must be terrible.

ReplyDeleteIt is so good to hear of Nathalie's and Shaun's dedication to finding Nacho. So many people seem to think that a few posters in the area where the dog went missing is sufficient. It just ain't so. And so many people give up waaaay too soon - yet many missing dogs are found two weeks, three weeks, even months after going missing. I can't help search from here, but my thoughts and prayers are with Nacho and his humans.
Aw. I hope he's found soon, given his medical condition. I've deactivated my facebook account recently, but I'm going to email this to my friends in and around Sydney. Let's hope this story has a happy ending.

ReplyDeleteJean - Nacho's owners seem to be doing every possible thing to find their dog, which is really inspiring. I would never have thought of such social media publicity. Given his medical condition, I don't know if Nacho has months unfortunately. Good luck with your lost Sheltie! You're right, it never ends.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. I used to see stray dogs wandering all the time on my morning walks. Since our local Animal Services doesn't operate until after 8 am calling them at six am is no use. If the dog has a collar with an ID tag it's a simple thing to call the owner, but most of them don't. I never know how to handle it.
ReplyDeleteI hope Nacho is returned home safely soon! Every time I hear a story about a missing dog my heart stops. It could happen to anyone at anytime and it's so frightening.

Oh, this is so sad. I hope they find Nacho very soon. You can tell how much his owners love him so. I don't know what I'd ever do if my pups got lost.
