Nostalgia with a capital N or The Meanderings of a Tired Mind.

Spring is just a week old but it already feels like summer.

I do believe I've started to shut down and let go, which is very liberating.
Jasmine from our little garden.

The tulip magnolia tree outside the study window is buzzing with green.

For more than 2 weeks now, While The Other Half has been researching Somewhere Else and How To Get Us There Without Too Much Argument, I've been cleaning house.

I spend a good part of every day methodically sorting through our trash and treasure. It's been a lonely job, very cathartic, and it's made me more than a little Nostalgic. Especially since there are now little bags, boxes and piles of things to be given away, sitting in random rooms.

It may be a little premature, since we have absolutely no idea where or when we're going yet. But what the hell. If nothing happens, at least we'll have a very clean house.

Over the next few posts, I'm going to put down some of the memories I've uncovered. Here in this blog, because I have nowhere else to store them.

If nothing else, they'll be here for me and my 3 equally reclusive siblings to enjoy. [They do read this blog when I force them to send them links and a text message saying PLEASE READ! IMPORTANT LIFE CHANGE ISSUES! or something eye-catching like that.]

So that's my Plan A for next week. I hope it works out. I'm quite bad at pre-planning posts and I have no Plan B.

Now, over to *ahem* The Dog, who dictated this before she went off for her Saturday special phở bò lunch with her Cushion.

*

Dear Everybody, it's me! Do you remember me? [You don't have to answer that. I'm just being sarcastic.]

Apparently, I get the last word. So kind of The Typist.

Here's my big news! Spring is here and it's getting warm again. I'm so happy my sunny spots are back.
I'm going for lots of walks these days! If I make My Cushion feel guilty enough, I get to go out almost 3 hours every day! The Typist thinks we're mad to spend so much time on walks but we don't care what she thinks. I will soon show you some of my walks, as soon as The Typist lets me.

Here are some trees and flowers I saw on one of my walks.
These ones may still be sleeping.

These ones are wide awake though!

More news! The Typist has started to speak funny to me. I now understand her even less than usual.
My butt is on the floor. Ergo, I am sitting.
I might have a little lie down now.

 That is just so disturbing.

One of The Typist's friends wrote this for her.
Thanks a lot, Pablo.

Should I be worried? I think Something Big is going down but I don't know what yet. It's killing me! Why is the dog always the last to know?

And by the way, Typist, may I just say I HATE it when you call me ... "The Dog"?

I have a name you know.

That's it for now! Until the next time, please be good like me. Hooroo! ¡Adiós! Whatever! Georgia Little Pea X

  1. Oh Georgia, your post is so full of pathos today, I want to reach out and hug you. Don't you worry about those funny words the Typist is using, or her making fun of you and Cushion for so many walks. It is SPRING where you are, and that is just the bestest time for going for walks and seeing the world waking up! Here, it is fall, which is very pretty but a little sad as everything is getting ready to go to sleep or even disappear completely.
Tell the typist I look forward to nostalgic stories, and clearing out the unnecessary stuff is always a good thing to do.
But mostly I look forward to more stories and pictures from a Very Special Dog, Who Has A Name - Georgia!

  2. Take a break and go for a nice walk with Ms Pea and Cushion this weekend Typist and enjoy all those gorgeous blooms and blossoms. Maybe you could even indulge in a passion fruit tart. Fire still going up here, its pretty chilly this weekend. That's a great idea to pop heaps of old memories onto the blog. I look forward to it!
Dear Ms Pea, so good to hear from you. I say is that yet another new swanky collar you are sporting there? Can't see really clear but are they little dancing princesses??? Get on to the Typist about some ribbons on that collar too - the Team are all proudly sporting a ribbon each. And they are getting lots of comments. One man called them a sissy name (the dogs) which I won't repeat.
Now don't despair, Spanish I hear is a fairly easy language to master, so just humour your Typist - she's trying to scare you. Just play along in a cool manner and it'll all go away.

  3. Pathos, Jean? Bugger. I must have hit the wrong note. I was aiming for "looking forward". Oh well ;)

How very observant, Rose. Now Cushion will nag me again about why I haven't yet posted anything about Ms Pea's new collars [which are now sporting some spiffy colour-coordinated ribbons. Those pics were taken some days back]. WHAT did that man say? Just wait till The Team's/your wishes come true, then he'll be wanting one for his hair.

Fires already! I haven't been watching the news. Hose down the gutters and take care! X

  4. All I can say is, I hope you like burritos and Tequila.... hehe! Deccy x

  5. Burritos. Are they some kind of donkey, Deccy? Don't try to scare me okay! That won't work because I'm too smart.

  6. Hola! Oh GLP, I think it's very exciting that you can ignore two languages. I always knew that you were a smart dog. :)

  7. HAHAHA! You're right! I can too. I much prefer dealing with My Cushion. We communicate without words you know ;)

  8. Oh no oh no Typist ;( I am so emabarrassed - I am going to be very precise with my English from now on. I re-read my comment and take full responsibility as to why you would think I meant (bush) fire, but I meant the fireplace was still going coz it's pretty chilly. And then you see my post with RED sunrises - good God no wonder you think we're up in smoke up here. So sorry Typist, but it's pretty funny (chortle)
PS: THAT man called my Team "pansies" can.you.imagine. !!

  10. you DO have a name and YES your Mom shouldn't call you "the dog" geeze!
I love how you are just having Spring and we are moving into Fall.
Can't wait to hear where you are moving to

  11. You crack me up, Rose. Of course, now that I've re-read YOUR comment, I get it! You're not on fire after all LOL.
That man should go down well in my neighbourhood. Pansies are very pretty and I still think he's just jealous :)

    We hope so too, Sam!

  12. Abajo Georgia.. Abajo! hehehehee i think you are understanding her very very well my dear girl :) Glad you are able to spend so much time with your daddy. Now we all know who's daddy's girl. Bet someone at home is turning green with spring :D

ok ok.. back to you my dear Typist. How about a name? to all of us loyal readers and commenters. tell us your name for god's sakes.. *LOL*

Its good to spring clean and give things away. Its no good to hold on to things which does not any purpose anymore.. memories are best kept in the head.. or a notebook/blog if we get too old and starts to forget. Over here, we have trucks that come by everyday... if u wanna give them anything.. but old shoes.. clothes.. boxes.. bottles... recycling is big business actually.

When you are done over at your house, can you come by and help me spring clean our store room :D
    have a great weekend ya!

  13. I can't wait to read your "memories" posts. And I agree, a good clean-out never hurts. We are entering autumn and that is a very nostalgic time of year for me.

Georgia...I feel deeply for you, but wish the best to The Typist. My head is like a concrete block when it comes to acquiring a new language.

  14. Burritos are tiny donkeys ... BWAH HA HA. Oh, I've just snorted my tequila through my nose! GLP, I'm so excited that you're learning Spanish, that must be about SOMEWHERE ELSE, it MUST!

I've been thinking about digging into the nostalgia boxes myself. Whenever I look forward, I have to look back and a lot of times it ain't easy.

    The jasmine is divine.

  15. Georgia, be glad you're an only dog. It's easier for me to say the dogs instead of trying to remember four names. :-)

  16. Caren, The Typist says it's less sick than Cushion calling her my mommy. Would you agree?

Anny, no, no, no! I am anon! Seriously though, it's a hole I dug myself (quite accidentally) and there I must stay. Just think of it as a very long whodunnit mystery novel ;) I like those trucks! We get them here too, once or twice a year. I am a queen lister and organizer and would love to help you clean up! It's one of my obsessions!

Lori, you know it's your posts that inspired me. I can see readers who're here to read about DOGS for heaven's sake, screaming and running away! but it must be done :)

Chandra, I wouldn't have thought someone who's moved 25 times in the last 10 years would have many nostalgia boxes left. Surely your worldly belongings can fit into a car by now? I would love to get to that stage myself! I totally agree...looking forward does entail some looking back. I think it's part of the process of letting go :) X

    Jan! This one did! :)

  17. Oooo! Is that a new collar, Georgia? I must say, it's much better than that little stinker one! At least you've taught The Typist something! I wish Spring were starting here. It's my favorite. I have a feeling our Autumn isn't going to have very pretty colors this year, but we'll see!

Morgan and Kuster speak German, but I always thought it would be fun to learn French. It just sounds so exotic and decadent. Alas, I stick to English!

  18. Hi Georgia,
The jasmine from you garden looks so beautiful!
Cleaning the house is tiresome but needful sometimes... I must to do it here too...

I am glad that the spring is there and you all are getting warm again. Love your photos at the sunny spots.

You all have a nice Sunday!

  19. Ahhh. While your Spring is starting, my Fall is just around the corner.. Keep up with those Spanish lesson, GLP. I have a feeling that you're going to need them.

  20. Gee. I wish we could start all love with spring here. As I write the leaves are falling from trees, the geese are flying south before winter arrives and the weather is a bit cooler. I love fall, but spring is one of my favorite seasons. It feels like everything is waking up and stretching out.

I have been loving the posts (still looking for the book one) sharing your memories and items you are giving away. Georgia may be confused, but she somehow manages to look adorable while doing so. Love the crossed paws. :)

  21. Spring is my favourite season too Melf, and for exactly the same reason. I like it especially after the tulip magnolia in our front yard has finished with its blooms and when the fresh green leaves pop out. No more slimy flowers to sweep every other minute, off the path and kerb LOL!

  22. It's so funny to think that it's almost Fall here and there you are thinking of Spring! I don't quite know what to make of it. I'm quite excited to hear more about this "Something Big".
